Swimrun Vernier - Switzerland - 2025 - 1st

Daniel and I took a chance on a last-minute entry for a SwimRun race in Vernier, just outside of Geneva. We chose to do one loop of the course, a lovely circuit which we started at an awe-inspiring pace, probably the fast 1km I have ever run! We raced down to the river and plunged into the opaque Rhône leading our category. In the swim section, Daniel tried to take a short cut and swim a direct line across the middle of the river instead of hugging the curve, but this made the safety team nervous and they kept nudging us closer to the shore! Nevertheless, we still managed to exit the swim in the lead.

Daniel set a tremendous pace for the final few kilometres to make sure that we weren’t caught. I somehow managed to keep up, even on the uphills through the beautiful forest trails. We raced our hardest and ended up coming first overall in our race, even beating the first men’s team! It was another fun adventure for us, a chance to see somewhere new and do something we love together.
